Gratitude
I’ve recently been impressed by the enormous number of things which I have been given for which I am grateful. First is my life, which, if you really think about it, is a miracle in itself. [I say this from the perspective of having delivered over a thousand women of their tiny newborns, and wondering how God could possibly have pulled each one off!] Then came the dangerous toddler [into the street] and teen [into substance abuse and fast cars] years. Not to mention the tumultuous falling-in-love, military, and active alcoholism years, all with the steadfast love and prayers of a wonderful lady. And children who both thrilled and disappointed me, grandchildren who amazed me, and great-grands who prove how old I really am. The years of being a family doctor, the physical ailments to which we’re all subject but with which I’ve been able to deal, the deaths of loved ones which have made me stronger, the wonderful gift of my new wife, and the overarching love of Jesus, my Lord, Savior, and Friend. All this makes me the most blessed man I know, and I am profoundly and eternally grateful.
